Small Incisions. Big Relief
Elbow Arthroscopy at Elite Ortho helps you recover faster, with less pain and better outcomes.
Orthopedic Service
What Is Elbow Arthroscopy?
Elbow arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows orthopedic surgeons to view and treat the inside of the elbow joint using a small camera (arthroscope) and specialized instruments inserted through tiny incisions.
At Elite Ortho, elbow arthroscopy is commonly used to:
- Release scar tissue
- Remove loose bodies
- Debride arthritic areas
- Treat cartilage damage
This advanced technique enables precise treatment while reducing trauma to surrounding tissues—resulting in a faster and less painful recovery than traditional open surgery.

Expectations Pre, Post, and During The Surgery.
Before Surgery
When surgery is recommended, your care team will assist with the pre-op steps. You can get medical clearance from your primary care doctor, which would include:- Bloodwork.
- EKG.
- Chest X-ray.
- Additional evaluations if needed.
- When to stop eating or drinking.
- What to bring on surgery day.
- Arrival time and logistics.
The Day of Surgery
The anesthesia team will meet you when you arrive. Most probably, you’ll be given general an aesthesia along with a regional nerve block. This will help to numb your arm and help relieve pain after surgery.
Once in the operating room:
- Your elbow will be cleaned with antiseptic and draped in a sterile field.
- Your arm will be secured in a stable position.
- Fluid will be pumped into the joint to improve visibility.
- Small camera will project images of your elbow onto monitor (13 words)
- The procedure will be performed by inserting small instruments through an incision (minimum 1-3). This will include cutting, shaving, suture, or removing whichever is damaged—such as tissue, bone chips.
After the operation, your cut will be sewn up and will be covered in a soft bandage.
After Surgery
You’ll stay in a recovery room for 1-2 hours where your condition will be watched and your pain managed. You’ll go home the same day. Make sure you have someone available to drive you and stay with you the first night.
- Key post-op considerations.
- You may feel some pain. Pain meds and icing will help.
- The sleeping position of a patient – many patients sleep in a recliner/ with the arm propped.
- We will teach you how to change your dressings and when to follow up.
Recovery & Rehabilitation
Your Path Back to Strength and Motion
Various elbow arthroscopy have different recovery process but each of them is minor surgery. Most individuals will start to regain comfort and functionality within a handful of weeks. Full recovery will take a few months.
You will get a custom rehab plan at your post op visit. This may include.
- Physical therapy.
- Gentle range of motion exercises.
- Strengthening routines over time.
Restoration of elbow function is required to eliminate stiffness on arm and enable use. At Elite Ortho DMV, we will take you through the whole process while providing constant advice and follow-up care.

Dr. Argintar is quick and efficient and attentive at the same time. I was brought in before my insurance paperwork was even done! He had clearly read (or had been briefed on) my file and I think I was in and out of there in less than 20 mins from the time I walked in the door. Highly recommend.

Dr. Argintar was quick and to the point. He was able to identify the injury and recommend what I need to do to begin the healing process. He listened to what I had to say and was able to get me out in a timely manner.

Dr Argintar was very knowledgeable and helped me understand a bit more of what was causing pain. He was open to listening to me and gave great suggestions on what I should be doing to minimize pain. Will definitely see him again for my follow up.
Pamela W.
I was most impressed by Dr Argintar’s understanding and enthusiastic support of my goal of returning to active participation in my sport, though I am an over-50 athlete. Dr Argintar was prompt, direct and took the time to explain my injury and route to recovery. As his patient, I felt respected and informed.
Sean G.
Dr. Argintar was very personable, explained what was going in with my injury, talked me through treatment options, and proposed a treatment plan that worked with my schedule. Great, quick visit.
